Area trail runners have two more reasons to celebrate as a duo of locals had exciting national accomplishments recently.
First, Jenn Pharr Davis, who last week set the new record for the fastest time over The Appalachian Trail. And on the other side of the country, Andy Jones-Wilkins, who in June pulled off the rare feat of finishing in the top 10 for the eight consecutive year at the prestigious Western States 100 Miler.
Pharr Davis covered all 2,160 miles of the world famous AT, running from Maine to Georgia, in record fashion of 46 days, shattering Andrew Thompson’s 1994 record by a full day. That’s about 47 miles/day…Simply amazing!
Jones-Wilkins, who recently started his new post of Headmaster at The Tandem School, is one of the top ranked ultra-marathoners in the nation.
Gosh, have we got some really fast neighbors!
