Representatives of real estate magnate and reality television star Donald Trump say their organization is negotiating with several banks in an effort to purchase property owned by Patricia Kluge, including the nearly 24,000-square-foot Albemarle House.
Trump’s representatives say they have negotiated purchasing of 200 acres of property surrounding Albemarle House and are interested in acquiring other holdings, including the foreclosed Vineyard Estates and Kluge Estate Winery and Vineyards.
Mortgage holder Bank of America outbid the representatives Wednesday morning as they tried to purchase Kluge’s Albemarle House at trustee’s auction.
The bank bought the house for $15.26 million after spirited bidding that began at $2 million and made it to $3.60 million before the bank made its bid. Kluge owes the bank an estimated $23 million.
“It’s a beautiful area and the land is suitable for any number of uses and Mr. Trump is very interested,” said Les Goldman, who made the bids on Trump’s behalf. “We’re interested in acquiring as much of the property as possible.”
Goldman said Trump’s organization has negotiated purchasing 200 acres surrounding Albemarle House and is interested in the house because of its historic nature.
“It’s a beautiful house,” Goldman said. “There’s a lot that can be done with the properties.”
