Fifteen percent of net proceeds will benefit Service Dogs of Virginia.

Wine bar also lines up two new programs

Siips also will offer two new programs, Tango Tuesdays and Sunday Ballroom Dancing.

The first Tuesday of each month will be Tango Tuesday, starting at 9 p.m. with wines, including Malbecs from Argentina, and Siips’ new late-night dessert menu. Reservations are suggested, and there’s no cover.

Ballroom dancing will begin 2 p.m. Sunday, after brunch. Steve Shergold from Shergold Studio will be the host for the afternoon. Reservations will be available for folks attending brunch.

Chick-fil-A is serving up free items Thursday

Participating Chick-fil-A restaurants from Charlottesville to Shrewsbury, Pa., are offering pre-selected breakfast items for free each Thursday in January, starting Thursday.

No purchase is necessary, and there’s a limit of one per customer. The offer is for breakfast hours only.

New Sweely Estate Winery is moving forward

Weekend tastings continue in the production facility at Sweely Estate Winery in Madison while the hospitality center is being readied.

An opening is expected in mid-February, and wine lovers can keep track of the progress at http://www.sweelyestatewinery.com.

In the meantime, tastings remain available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in the production facility at 6109 Wolftown Hood Road in Madison, a mile and a half west of U.S. 29.

The winery will take part in the International Food and Wine Experience, which is set for Jan. 23 to 25 in downtown Charlottesville. It will be part of the Grand Tasting on Jan. 23 and will sponsor a seminar, “The Perfect Pair: French Food and French Wines,” on Jan. 24.
