Man vanished day of appointment with auditor, Glenmore head says
Michael Comer, the former treasurer of the Glenmore Community Association who has been missing for several days, was supposed to meet with an auditor about incomplete data the day he disappeared, the president of the association said today.
Comer has been replaced as treasurer and the scope of the external audit has been “extended,” President Trevor Joscelyne said, “to review account transactions and balances both prior to and beyond the 2008 audit year.”
The move is being done as “an abundance of caution,” Joscelyne wrote in a statement.
The extended audit is expected to be complete in about two weeks.
The homeowners association for Glenmore residents represents more than 700 homes and has an annual budget for 2009 of $732,000.
Sgt. Steve Southworth, with the Wintergreen Police Department, said that the search for Comer is ongoing. He declined to say whether the department is investigating whether Comer may have left town because of a financial dilemma. However, he said that police are “investigating every angle.”
Comer disappeared last week from his vacation home at Wintergreen.
