Another area man has been charged in a gang shooting that left a former Harrisonburg high-school football star fighting for his life.
Ricky Parrish, 21, of Ruckersville, turned himself in to police Tuesday night, according to Mary-Hope Gangwer, spokeswoman for the Harrisonburg Police Department.

Police had been searching for Parrish, who faces charges of assault and battery by a mob and gang participation.
Reginald “Shay” Nicholson, 19, a former R.E. Lee High School football star, was shot in the back of the head on Nov. 9. He remains in critical condition at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Police said an argument that escalated led to the 3 a.m. shooting during an “open-door party” at an off-campus housing complex near James Madison University in Harrisonburg. The incident was gang-related, police said.
A Charlottesville teenager and three other Ruckersville men also have been charged.

Police believe that Zackery Turner, 18, shot Nicholson.
Turner faces three firearm charges and one charge of aggravated malicious wounding. He has not been charged with gang participation.
Jahmaine Faqiri, 18; Gregory Baker, 20; and Demonds Parrish, 19, all of Ruckersville, each were charged with assault and battery by a mob and gang participation. Faqiri also was charged with brandishing a firearm.

All five men are being held without bond.
