Miller School finds new headmaster
The Miller School of Albemarle has selected a new headmaster.
Walter W. “Winn” Price III will take the position July 1. Price will replace Lindsay Barnes, who is leaving Miller after nine years to become headmaster of Hawaii Preparatory Academy.
“I’m thrilled with this opportunity,” Price said. “I’ve never been on a campus that has quite the spirit of the Miller School.”
Price is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Naval War College and Harvard Business School. Over the past four decades, he has served as vice president of two businesses, including Bath Iron Works. He retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1995 at the rank of captain.
Price is currently the co-acting head of school and dean of students for Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Maine. Price has worked at Maine Central Institute since 2001.
Price will be the 12th headmaster in the 130-year history of the Miller School.
The Miller School, located 12 miles west of Charlottesville, has about 150 students, grades eight through 12 and post-graduate.
