The Nelson County Museum of History will hold its grand opening Sunday.

The museum will present the exhibit “Cuttin’ On the Lights,” which shows how electricity came to the county in the 1930s. An exhibit on Hurricane Camille, with heretofore unseen color photos taken just after the 1969 flood, also will be unveiled.

The museum will also celebrate the inclusion of the Oakland House on the national and Virginia registries of historic places.

Kathleen Kilpatrick, director of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, will be the keynote speaker.

Ice cream, cake and lemonade will be served at the grand opening. Bennie Dodd and Friends will provide music for the free event.

The event will run from 3 to 5 p.m.
