At Week’s End: It’s OK: Manly men can kiss
So, what’s it gonna be?
A day of “Rocky” and rugby, or “Love Story” and romance?
A couple of brothers from Indiana have created Man Day, which this year falls on Monday.
However, June 15 has already been claimed by the creators of Sneak a Kiss Day.
We’re sure Sneak a Kiss Day got there first because of the wealth of online references. There’s even a site for creating and sending Sneak a Kiss Day e-cards. (Hmm, maybe SAKD was created by the greeting card industry …)
Man Day has been promoted on Face-book by 19-year-old Joel Longanecker of Celestine, Ind., and his 26-year-old brother Aaron, of Indianapolis. They urge men to participate in “manly” activities such as hunting or playing football or watching “Rocky” movies on their special Monday.
A Web site from last year titled AllDayManDay (which we think might have been created by the brothers) also mentions barbecuing and drinking.
Non-men are not excluded from such events, the Web site says, but non-male attendees must not disapprove of drinking. In fact, they must not disapprove of anything.
For Sneak a Kiss Day, however, the site eHow recommends such activities as sending a romantic e-mail to your sweetie, going out for a special dinner, sending your kids off to school with a special kiss or wearing plastic lips so you’ll be ready for a big smooch.
And then there is one suggestions that may bridge the gap between manly men and smooching sweeties. It’s something both camps should agree on:
“Wake your sweetheart with a kiss. What better way could there be to start celebrating Sneak a Kiss Day than with a quick roll in the sheets?”
