Warriors, Moyers start off strong

In Gordonsville, Western Albemarle used a balanced effort to hold off Mikey Moyers and William Monroe in the Jefferson District Golf mini-match at Spring Creek Golf Club.

Moyers, the defending Group AA champion, earned medalist honors with a 3-over 75. Raleigh Davis carded a 77 and Landon Wies finished at 79 for the Warriors, whose total of 318 was 13 strokes better than the Greene Dragons’ 331.

Brett Engle and Ryan Fellows each shot an 81 to round out the scoring for Western. Ben Hobeck (80), Andy Brown (86) and Eric Zeef (90) were the other scorers for William Monroe.

Monticello, led by Cory Smith’s 83, finished third at 334.
