 The U. S. Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded a contract to Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit in Charlottesville to supply integrated bridge systems for three U. S. Navy Cruisers. The new generation IBS, running on Sperry Marine’s Voyage Management System software, will be back-fitted onto three guided-missile cruisers.

 Derrico’s New York Bagels and Italian Ices will open in the Old Trail Village Center in January. Brian Derrico, a lifetime Albemarle resident with New York family roots, will bake fresh bagels every day and will offer a full menu of bagels, sandwiches and Italian Ices, also made in custom-built machines in the shop.

 

 Cathcart Properties Inc. of Charlottesville has begun construction of Wexford Village apartments and The Townes at Devonshire in Teays Valley, W.Va. Cathcart Construction LLC, a division of Cathcart Properties Inc., will be the building contractor.

 

 SNL Financial of Charlottesville is one of four Charlottesville-based companies to be included in Inc. Magazine’s list of the 5,000 fastest growing private companies in the United States. SNL is the largest company on the list, with 2007 revenues of $66.6 million, an increase of 106 percent over three years. The company ranked 3,213 nationally and 17th out of 27 companies in Virginia with revenues of $50 million or more.
