l The Aging Together Partnership was recently named a National Program Champion by the U.S. Administration on Aging. National Program Champions have made dramatic improvements in community resources for older citizens and their families. Aging Together has facilitated a number of successful collaborations that have created new or enhanced services throughout the five counties of the region. This national recognition is the fourth award to Aging Together Partnership for its results-driven collaboration.
l Vector Marketing has opened a sales office in Charlottesville, run by branch manager Jennifer Matika. The Charlottesville location will be used for the recruitment and training of new sales representatives and team meetings. Sales representatives market Vector’s product, CUTCO Cutlery, through in-home presentations.
l Lucinda’s: A Full-Service Salon is set to open in early 2009 in the Old Trail Village Center to bring salon services to western Albemarle County. Owner Lucinda Riley gained experience in both technique and salon management as a Wilhelmina model, as a make-up artist for several major cosmetic companies and as front desk manager for Jose Eber Salon in Beverly Hills, Calif.
l Charlottesville Business Innovation Council has announced the winners of the Charlottesville Innovation Awards. The winners are: Meddius, Rocket Award; Musictoday, Spotlight Award; Cellular Materials, Breakthrough Award; Computers4Kids, Community Award; Beth White, Western Albemarle High School, Red Apple Award; Elizabeth Pyle, Pyle and Associates, People’s Choice Navigator Award; Linda Kolker, Leapfrog Solutions, Leadership Award; Michelle Prosser, Energy Focus, Leadership Award.
