Mid-Atlantic Construction announced the Best of 2008 winners and Martin Horn Inc. General Contrac-tors of Charlottesville was one of two winners in the “renovation” category for its work for the University of Virginia’s South Chiller Plant Expansion, Phase II. Martin Horn began the 19-month project in March.

Best Western Charlottesville Airport Inn and Suites in Ruckersville was named Best of the Best in Quality at Best Western International’s annual North American Convention. The honor is presented to member properties that receive two consecutive top quality assurance assessment scores within a 12-month period and meets design and customer care standards. The hotel was one of 33 hotels out of more than 2,400 properties in the U.S. and Canada to receive the designation.

Rivanna Gear & Apparel of Charlottesville has expanded its retail division to a new 8,000-square-foot facility in the Pantops Shopping Center. Rivanna Gear & Apparel is a certified woman-owned business that serves the sporting goods and custom apparel needs of Central Virginia individuals, groups, teams and corporations and is a member of the National Sporting Goods Association, TEAMS buying group and the Better Business Bureau.
