l The Associated General Contractors of Virginia-Richmond District elected Kevin Willis of Faulconer Construction as president and Guy Moffat of Albemarle Heating & Air Inc. as second vice president for 2009. Kennard Moore of Moore Masonry and Mark S. Mandell of Abrahamse & Co. were appointed members of the executive committee. The AGC is a statewide construction trade association with more than 800 members.

l Chris Engel, assistant director of economic development for the city of Charlottesville, earned the Certified Economic Developer designation, a national recognition that denotes a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to personal and professional growth. Engel has more than eight years of nonprofit and public sector economic development experience and has been instrumental in creating and managing a number of innovative economic development efforts.
