l The South Atlantic Division of the American Cancer Society invited Dee B. Eadie, MSN, MSW, University of Virginia Cancer Center administrator, to join its volunteer Board of Directors. She began her three-year term on Sept. 1. The board ensures that activities of the division reflect the mission of the society and are in compliance with all legal requirements. Eadie began volunteering with the society in 1995.
l Jim Carlson of C’ville Smoke Shop in Charlottesville is one of two Virginia professional tobacconists who have qualified for membership in the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers Association.
l Colin O’Hanlon, CCM, has joined Farmington Country Club as food and beverage director. O’Hanlon brings more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry to the position and is responsible for all aspects of the club’s food and beverage operations, including all dining rooms and kitchens, snack bars and catering.
l The Best Lawyers in America 2010 edition recognized James W. Barkley of Morin & Barkley LLP in the field of insurance law. Virginia Super Lawyers recognized Morin & Barkley attorneys James W. Barkley in construction litigation and Donald R. Morin in civil litigation defense for 2009.
l The Perry Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to issues and improvement in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, recognized retiring president Francis Fife for his many years of service. A former mayor of Charlottesville, he was first elected to the board in 1969 as treasurer and was elected president in 1997. Fife will continue with the Perry Foundation as an ex officio board member. The foundation also announced its new leadership team. Gary McGee, retired partner with McGuireWoods LLP, replaces Fife as president. Board members are Susan Cabell Mains, vice chair, Edward D. Tayloe, Suzanne J. Brooks, Roberta F. Brownfield and Wade Tremblay.
