l The Piedmont Workforce Network Board announced its new slate of officers: W. Rod Gentry and G. Willis Logan, co-chairs; Steve Walker, vice chair; and Leigh Middleditch Jr., immediate past chair. The Piedmont Workforce Network directs and manages the Virginia Workforce Centers that provide central access to service providers and resources in employment planning, counseling, research and workforce training geared toward employers and job seekers.
l Joseph W. “Rick” Richmond of Richmond & Fishburne of Charlottesville, was named one of Virginia’s “Super Lawyers.” His son and partner, Walker Richmond, was named a Virginia “Rising Star.” They practice real estate, trust and estate, and business law. The “Super Lawyer” and “Rising Star” designations are awarded annually to attorneys who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
l Fluvanna Supervisor Marvin Moss was elected as the new chairman of the Rivanna River Basin Commission. Moss served as vice chairman since the commission’s inception in 2007. Roberta “Robbi” Savage, the citizen representative to the commission from Greene County, was elected vice chair. The commission’s purpose is to provide guidance for the stewardship and enhancement of the water and natural resources of the Rivanna River Basin.
l Monticello Media has hired Tom Scott as its director of interactive media for its six Charlottesville stations. Scott, a 28-year radio veteran, was most recently operations manager and program director at a cluster of stations in Williamsport, Pa.
l The Thomas Jefferson Area Coalition for the Homeless has hired Kathleen “Kaki” Dimock as its first executive director. She brings more than 15 years of experience in community-based programs, building systems of care for individuals and families in need as a result of domestic violence, court involvement and poverty, and her experience spans nonprofits and government.
