l Sally H. Thomas, a member of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors and longtime Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission member, received the Robert W. Baker Achievement Award from the Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions for her efforts in promoting regional planning. The award recognizes individuals who have been involved directly in planning district commission activities and who have contributed significantly to promoting regional planning and development in Virginia.

l The following employees have recently joined the professional staff in the Audit and Accounting department of Hantzmon Wiebel CPA firm in Charlottesville: Greg Doran, supervisor; Valerie Saunders, senior accountant; Sharika Kochicheril and Monte Glanzer, staff accountants; and Eric Harris, administrative assistant.

 

l The following attorneys with Williams Mullen of Charlottesville were among 85 Williams Mullen attorneys named Best Lawyers in America 2010: David L. Dallas, corporate law, venture capital law; and Valerie Wagner Long, land use and zoning law.

 

l Arboristry Associates Inc. of Faber announced that Evan Heck received the Registered Technician - Pesticide Applicator Certificate from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for the successful completion of safety coursework and testing.

 

l Troy Crews, owner of Play It Again Sports in Charlottesville, attended the company’s 2009 Summer Conference and Trade Show in Providence, R.I., in July. The conference provided franchisees workshops and forums that focused on ways to enhance business operations.
