John W. Zunka and Richard E. Carter of Zunka, Milnor, Carter & Inigo Ltd. were named to the 2010 edition of Best Lawyers in America. The publication congratulated Zunka for being listed 20 years in the field of personal injury litigation and Carter for being listed more than 10 years in the practice of real estate.
Eric Hess was recently recruited as a senior estimator for Piedmont Concrete Contractors. Hess will lead all procurement and estimating activities and brings significant general contracting, highway and concrete estimating experience to the position.
Thirteen Virginia Realtors were elected to the Virginia Association of Realtors Policy Board, including Benton Downer of Charlottesville. The board is responsible for administering the affairs of the association within the bylaws and mission as approved by the VAR delegate body. Members also serve as directors of the Virginia Real Estate Educational Foundation.
Donald C. Santos, PSP, senior scheduler with Alpha Corp., has passed the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International’s Planning and Scheduling Professional exam. Santos has been with the corporation for two years, is based in the Charlottesville area and works in the Project Controls division, which is responsible for scheduling, estimating and dispute resolution services. Most recently he provided schedule development, maintenance and analysis for projects at Fort Lee U.S. Army Post, the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Jay Townsend, president of J.W. Townsend Inc., recently became a Certified Landscape Professional by passing a comprehensive exam administered by PLANET, the Professional Landcare Network. The exam covered all areas relating to the business of horticulture, including strategic planning, financial management and risk, as well as law and contracts.
