PVCC will light up the night with its one-night-only art installation

Piedmont Virginia Community College will holding “Let There Be Light” from 6 to 9 tonight.

For one night only PVCC artists will set up their light-centered artworks outside on the grounds surrounding the V. Earl Dickinson Building. They plan on illuminating the outdoors with their art. Some of the artists who are participating include, George Andrews, Harriet Arthur, Fenella Belle, Tom Clarkson, Ted Coffey, Stacey Evans, John Grant, Bob Hirosky, Greg Antrim Kelly, Lydia Moyers, Troy Rogers, Rob Tarbell and James Yates, among others.

In case of rain, the event will be Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.

PVCC is at 501 College Drive.

Tucker tour includes tour and lunch

The Kluge-Ruhe Collection will hold a Tucker Box Tour from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Enjoy a guided tour of the current exhibits followed by lunch in the gallery.

Two exhibits are on view in the gallery. “Australienation: Portrait of a Bi-Cultural Country” by John Ogden will be on view through Dec. 21. “All-Time Favorites: Best-Loved Works from the Kluge-Ruhe Collection” will remain on display through Aug. 9.

Participants may bring their own lunches or order one for $8. Ordered lunches are provided by Brix.

Reservations are required. Call 244-0234 to reserve a space.

The gallery is on Worrell Drive, off U.S. 250 east at Pantops.

 

Hawksbill Pottery will open its studio

Hawksbill Pottery will be having a free Holiday Open House next week at McGuffey Art Center.

A pottery exhibit and sale, wheel-throwing demonstrations and light refreshments will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tueday through Dec. 20.

Hawsbill is in Studio 8 in the basement of McGuffey at 201 Second St. NW.

McGuffey shows off all its wares

The annual McGuffey Holiday Open House will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

There will be activities for children, refreshments, music and open studios.

McGuffey Art Center is at 201 Second St. NW.
