PVCC celebrates Earl’s anniversary
Piedmont Virginia Community College is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its V. Earl Dickinson Building for Humanities and Social Sciences with an open house from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The open house offers community members the opportunity to sample PVCC’s humanities, fine arts and social sciences programs, exhibits and performances.
Ongoing events include pottery throwing demonstrations, self-guided tours of classrooms and studios, art exhibits and light refreshments.
The V. Earl Dickinson Building is at the south end of College Drive.

The Dickinson Building opened in the fall of 1998 and was dedicated in honor of V. Earl Dickinson Sr., Mineral resident and member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Dickinson was a long-time supporter of PVCC and believed in the value of education and the arts to change people’s lives.
Today, the Dickinson Building is home to PVCC’s Division of Humanities, Fine Arts and Social Sciences, the PVCC art gallery, a lakeside amphitheatre, a 500-seat main stage theatre and the smaller Maxwell Theatre.
