Freedom Festival celebrates patriotism

Stanardsville is the place to catch the Freedom Festival from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Head to the grounds of Ruckersville Elementary School for a variety of activities centered around the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence and how they apply to today’s issues.
The 13 Generations Band, featuring vocalists Lisa Mei Norton and Carole Thorpe, will perform.
Look for portrayals of Nathanael Greene, George Washington and Patrick Henry.
Featured speakers will include Ben Marchi of Americans for Prosperity, Bill Hay of the Jefferson Area Tea Party Association, Donna Holt of Campaign for Liberty, Mike McHugh of the Virginia Gun Owners’ Coalition, Bo Short of the American Leadership Foundation, Arby’s franchisee Tom Slonaker, Reagan appointee Dale Duvall, 5th District Congressional GOP nominees and Del. Rob Bell, R-Albemarle County.
Non-perishable food items and donations will be collected for local community service programs to help families during the holiday season.
