Film series examines revolution

The University of Virginia’s departments of Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, history and media studies will present a film series, “100 Years in Quest for Democracy: The Mexican Revolution, Legacies and Debates (1910-1920)” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Newcomb Theater.

“Los De Abajo (The Ones from Below),” a 1976 film directed by Servando Gonzalez, will be screened. It’s in Spanish with English subtitles. Gustavo Pellon, a specialist in contemporary Latin American and contemporary literatures in the department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, will provide the introduction and lead the discussion.
