They were bound to come to the Jack in the long run. Now we know the date.
The Eagles will perform 8 p.m. May 21 at Charlottesville’s John Paul Jones Arena, the arena announced this morning.
The classic rock band, which has been enjoying success on the country charts as well with its recent “Long Road Out of Eden’’ CD, will perform “How Long,’’ “Busy Being Fabulous’’ and other hits from the album, as well as classic songs.
Tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. April 4 and will range from $152 to $67.
Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit will be performing.
Earlier this year, the Eagles won a Grammy Award for best country performance by a duo or group with vocals for “How Long.’’
The Eagles have picked up three previous Grammys — one for best rock vocal performance by a duo or group for “Heartache Tonight’’ in 1979, another for record of the year for “Hotel California’’ in 1977 and a third for best pop vocal performance by a duo, group or chorus in 1975 for “Lyin’ Eyes.’’
The group is up for “Wide Open Country Video of the Year’’ in the upcoming CMT Awards, which will be on April 14.
The band also has been nominated for an Academy of Country Music Award vocal group of the year, and the awards program will be broadcast May 18 on CBS.
The Eagles won rock fans’ hearts with such hits as “Hotel California,’’ “Desperado,’’ “Witchy Woman,’’ “Peaceful Easy Feeling,’’ “Take It Easy,’’ “Tequila Sunrise,’’ “One of These Nights,’’ “Already Gone,’’ “Life in the Fast Lane’’ and “The Long Run.’’
The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
Members parted in 1980 but reunited in 1994 to record “Hell Freezes Over’’ and resume successful tours.
Individual members also have had success in solo projects.
Tickets will be available at the arena’s box office and Plan 9 locations, online at http://www.johnpauljonesarena.com and by phone at (888) JPJ-TIXS.
