‘Supermodel’ contestant is local man

A Charlottesville resident is one of the 16 finalists who will appear on the new season of Bravo’s “Make Me a Supermodel.”
Colin, 21 can be seen on the series’ casting special at 11 p.m. Feb. 7. He will appear in the second season of the reality competition, which will begin 10 p.m. March 4.
Colin, an academic team captain in his high school days, is studying psychology and neuroscience at Carleton College. He works with the neuroscience department at the University of Virginia over his breaks and is planning to attend medical school.
Colin has no previous modeling experience. In his spare time he performs on guitar and bass, plays on the intramural champion sand volleyball team at his school and gets in a lot of ultimate Frisbee.
Tyson Beckford will return as the show’s host, and Australian supermodel Nicole Trufino will join the show as a mentor to the female models.
The winner will go home with a $100,000 prize, a contract with New York Model Management, a fashion pictorial in Cosmopolitan magazine and the chance to become the next great supermodel.
Colin’s competitors will include Amanda, 21, of Banks, Ore.; Branden, 18, of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; Chris, 22, of Libertyville, Ill.; CJ, 18, of San Ramon, Calif.; Gabriel, 22, of Charlotte, N.C.; Jonathan, 26, of Southampton, England; Jordan, 21, of San Antonio, Texas; Karen, 22, of Ocean Springs, Miss.; Ken, 24, of Winterville, N.C.; Kerryn, 24, of Russelville, Ark.; Laury, 23, of Miami; Mountaha, 23, of Londrina, Brazil; Salome, 19, of Altamont, Tenn.; Sandhurst, 22, of Tobago; and Shawn, 30, of Seattle.
The new panel of judges includes designer catherine Malandrino, model Jenny Shimuzu, photographer Peou and model scout marlon.
