Starting tonight, Four County Players is bringing a holiday favorite to the stage.

“A Christmas Carol” will be presented 8 tonight, 2:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Barboursville Community Center.

Michael Paller’s adaptation focuses on Charles Dickens on Christmas Eve 1843 as the famed author struggles with shadows of his past.

Dickens becomes inspired — so much so that when family members and friends arrive hoping for a story, he enlists them to take part in its telling.

Director Clinton Johnston leads a cast of 10 actors, who bring more than 40 characters to the stage.

Look for John Holdren as Charles Dickens and Ebenezer Scrooge, starring with Betty Hales, Ron Hasson, Alan Hickerson, Hannah Mawyer, Kerry Moran, Peter Rice, Bradley Shipp, Mike Smith and Michael Zervas.

Tonight’s performance and the Dec. 12 show already have sold out. The show will run through Dec. 20. Visit http://www.fourcp.org or call (540) 832-5355.
