Find time for PVCC’s ‘43 Plays’

Before a new president wins office, audiences can get a refresher course in the lives and times of his predecessors.

Piedmont Virginia Community College will present “43 Plays for 43 Presidents’’ starting 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Other performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7, 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 and 14 and 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the V. Earl Dickinson Building.

Each of the 43 short plays is dedicated to a U.S. president, all the way from George Washington to George W. Bush. The Chicago Neo-Futurists originally produced the high-energy play, in which seven cast members play all the roles using comedy, songs and drama. The show was written by Andrew Bayiates, Sean Benjamin, Genevra Gallo, Chloe Johnston and Karen Weinberg.

Kay Bethea, PVCC professor of theater and music, will direct the play. Her cast includes Mario Brown, Alyssa Burr, Andy Davis, Chris Marshall, Alex Modic and Jackie Wrightall PVCC students, and Jim Wilson of North garden.

Tickets are $10, $8 for students and seniors.
