The next stop for “Chattanooga Choo Choo” looks like “Sleigh Ride.”

The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra is coming back to the Paramount Theater at 4 p.m. Sunday, and this time the big band will present “In the Christmas Mood,” which combines traditional Miller classics with Christmas season favorites.

Trombonist Larry O’Brien leads the big band, which remains popular with generations of fans long after Miller’s World War II heyday.

There’s a Virginia tie — vocalist Ryan Garfi hails from Richmond.

The classics will include “Tuxedo Junction” and other hits.

Miller’s band became famous for such songs as “String of Pearls,” “Moonlight Serenade,” “Little Brown Jug,” “Pennsylvania 6-5000” and “In the Mood.”

Holiday songs include “Jingle Bells,” “Silver Bells,” “Frosty the Snowman” and music from Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite.”

Miller formed the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band during World War II and took the group to Europe to entertain members of the armed forces. As Miller prepared to precede his band to France and make early preparations, his plane disappeared on Dec. 15, 1944.

Tickets are $42.50, $37.50, $34.50 and $31.50. Group discounts are available. For details or tickets, visit http://www.theparamount.net or call the box office at 979-1333.
