Mira presents a knight to remember

Mira will present “Pilgrims, Knights and the Blessed Virgin Mary’’ at 8 p.m. Saturday at Holy Comforter Roman Catholic Church.
The Charlottesville early-music group will be singing 10th- and 11th-century chants from Ireland and England, as well as four centuries’ worth of polyphonic works by such composers as Dufay, Byrd and Crequillon.
The program, first presented Oct. 13 to a packed house at Historic Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, was created for the 700th anniversary of the Oct. 13, 1307, ambush of the Knights Templar.
The program features music that fit in the time period or the themes of the Knights Templar.
The members of Mira include teachers, historians, Latin specialists, Hebrew instructors, historical building renovators and students.
Several members also are instrumentalists.
