From staff reports

The Second City is half a century old, but the jokes are as fresh as today’s headlines.
The acclaimed comedy troupe is bringing a 50th-anniversary show to the Paramount Theater at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The show will take a look back at the current events, scandals and cultural phenomena that fueled skits, sketches, improvisations and loads of laughs over the decades.
Keep an eye out for current cast members, because chances are good that you’ll be seeing them later in other projects. The Second City alumni association reads like a who’s who of American comedy. They include Joan Rivers, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, John Candy, Martin Short,  Mike Myers, Tim Meadows, Chris Farley, Amy Sedaris, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert and University of Virginia alumna Tina Fey.
Tickets are $39.50, $34.50 and $29.50. Get them online at http://www.theparamount.net, in person at the box office or by calling 979-1333.
