The new production of “Much Ado About Nothing” will be at the Hamner Theater. And at Mountain Cove Vineyard. And at Cardinal Point Vineyard.
You’ve got your pick of Nelson County venues in which to enjoy William Shakespeare’s tale of one couple that’s madly in love and another that’s too busy bickering to see sparks fly.
So whether you’d like to enjoy the summer weather in a leafy vineyard or chill out in the Hamner’s air conditioning, producer Kerry Moran said, “We hope that people can just come and have a rollicking good time. It’s the most accessible of Shakespeare’s plays.”
Moran, who also pitches in as an actor, playing Ursula and Sexton, finds the process of working on the show satisfying. “I’m an architect by profession,” Moran said. “It’s very much figuring out how the pieces make the whole.”
Joning her in the cast are playwrights Robert Wray and Clinton Johnston, plus Chris Cellela, Jon Cobb, Geoffrey Culbertson, Emily Duncan, Stephanie Finn, Nick Heiderstadt, Sara Holdren, Scott Keith, David Vaughn Straughn and Napoleon Tavale. John Holdren directs.
The show opens at the Hamner on Thursday and runs through July 12. The Mountain Cove date is 7 p.m. July 11, and Cardinal Point is the site at 7 p.m. June 27 — and July 4, which has a “$5 Fourth” special price. Other shows are at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10; Wednesday’s preview is free. Call 361-1999.
