I have always thought of bagels and English muffins as breakfast food. But we in Charlottesville know better and have, for years, enjoyed bagel sandwiches at the various Bodo’s locations. I have eaten many bagels, but none have been better than those at Bodo’s.

The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is marking the 44th presidential inauguration with an “adoption stimulus package” that makes its canine and feline “Cabinet members” available for adoption for $44.

Recently, I dropped the multi-syllable adjective “solipsistic” to describe someone, and the person upon whom I made the drop wanted to know why I had “to use such a long word.” Feeling guiltless, I tried to tell him that is was, for me, a singular, unique and irreplaceable string of letters, signifying the very essence of the one under discussion.
