New Dominion shop tunes in the country

Country music star Marty Stuart will be at New Dominion Bookshop from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday Nov. 14 to sign copies of his new book “Country Music: The Masters.”

In a reprisal of their successful “No Hats” tour in the early ’90s, Stuart joins Travis Tritt for a concert at 8 p.m. Friday at the Paramount Theater.

Stuart’s book is a compilation that combines memorabilia and photographic history, with a bluegrass guitar narrative in folksy, traditional “roots” storytelling style. “Country Music: The Masters” also comes with an audio CD, Stuart’s love letter to the founders and legends of Country Music.

His coffee table book contains photographs, some that have never been published, including the cover photo of Johnny Cash, snapped by Stuart just four days before Cash’s death.

The CD display also features Stuart new original song, “Dark Bird,” his poignant tribute to Johnny Cash that was performed at his funeral, but never released commercially.
