Junior League sells tickets to fifth feast
Emily Giffin will be the featured guest at the Junior League of Charlottesville’s fifth annual Literary Feast.
The author of the best-selling “Something Borrowed,” “Something Blue,” “Baby Proof” and “Love the One You’re With” will be on hand for the dinner and silent auction on Feb. 27 at Farmington Country Club.
“Something Borrowed” and “Something Blue” both have been optioned to movies.
Funds from the Literary Feast have been earmarked for the Junior League of Charlottesville’s community giving programs.

Big Read kicks off on Downtown Mall
The Big Read will kick off 2 p.m. Saturday at the Free Speech Wall on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall.
Charlottesville councilor Holly Edwards and Albemarle County supervisor David Slutzky will read proclamations declaring February and March to be the Big Read months in Central Virginia.
The winner of the library’s YouTube video contest also will be announced.
This year the Big Read book is “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston. The goal to have as many people as possible read the same book at the same time. All branches of J-MRL will have programs associated with the the program.

l Brown Bag Book Club will meet at noon Monday in the Nelson Memorial Library to discuss “Pillars of the Earth” by Ken Follett.
l The Greene County Library will hold a free film screening at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
