The Alzheimer’s Association Central and Western Virginia Chapter has created a new publication, “Connections: A Complete Activities Guide for Persons Diagnosed with Dementia.”

“In ‘Connections’ you can find easily accessible instructions and tips for establishing a base of operations for activities, methods of determining levels of function, specific activities and suggested schedules for someone with a given functional level, and suggested scripts for interacting, redirecting or expanding activities,” Dr. Steven T. DeKosky, vice president and dean of the University of Virginia School of Medicine, said in a news release.

The guide was written by Ellen Phipps, vice president of programs and services at the local Alzheimer’s Association, and Barbara Braddock, assistant professor at the Curry School of Education at UVa.
