Anna’s Pizza 1st to sign up for Old Trail’s ‘town center’
Crozet residents will soon have easier access to a piping hot piece of pizza pie from Charlottesville’s Anna’s Pizza.
The pizzeria, founded in the mid-1970s, is the first tenant to sign up for the Old Trail development’s yet-to-be-constructed “town center.” The center’s first phase is expected to be completed by February. Known for its Italian subs and pizza, Anna’s co-owner Marcella Kaufman said the restaurant is looking forward to its first expansion. It’ll also feature home delivery for the first time.
“We’re going to definitely cater to daily specials — homemade specials — and desserts as well,” said Kaufman, who owns the restaurant with her mother, aunt and sister.
The first phase of the town center will include one 85,000-square-foot building of commercial and office space, featuring a coffee shop, three restaurants and fitness center, along with individual offices.
Eventually, developer Justin Beights said, the town center could have five or six such buildings. Apartments will claim the top floors with retail and restaurants below, and Beights said he is working to finalize deals with other tenants.
The Old Trail community has about 135 occupied homes, but the large development could have up to 2,600 townhouses, homes and apartments in the next 10 to 15 years.
