City judge rules against Meadowcreek opponents

A judge ruled against opponents of the Meadowcreek Parkway project today, clearing the way for construction of the city’s portion of the 2-mile road to proceed.

Judge Jay Swett declined to issue an injunction stop the project.

Swett also ruled as constitutional a 3-to-2 vote by Charlottesville City Council to convey a 9-acre portion of McIntire Park to the Virginia Department of Transportation for the project.

Opponents had argued that a supermajority of City Council was needed.

The portion of the project in Albemarle County has been under construction for several months.

Predictable? What is predicatable—and ridiculous—are the opponents who find endless ways to waste both time and money. Were their energies spent fruitfully on something doable, and worthwhile—like finding alternative, affordable, convenient, accessable transportation solutions. So far, only enough hot air to fill a balloon or two, which is just not gonna cut it.
