A 16-year-old Crozet boy who was charged with 15 felonies in connection with the March 27 shootings on Interstate 64 pleaded guilty Wednesday to some of the charges in Albemarle Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Darby Lowe said the teenager pleaded guilty to five counts of maliciously shooting at an occupied vehicle. He also pleaded guilty to three charges involving shots fired at homes, but Lowe said those would be deferred as long as the juvenile remains on good behavior. The remainder of the charges will not be prosecuted.

During court Wednesday, Lowe said the juvenile fired one shot off the Route 690 overpass and shot at two homes, and was present when the rest of the shots were fired. Police also charged 19-year-old Slade A. Woodson in connection with the shootings.

The juvenile faces disposition, the juvenile court’s term for sentencing, on May 28. Defense attorney Dana Slater said he could be detained until he is 21 years old.

The teenager will remain in the Blue Ridge Detention Center until his next court date.
