Slade Woodson, the 19-year-old Afton man facing indictments for a string of shootings in Waynesboro and on Interstate 64 last week, appeared in a Waynesboro court Monday morning.
Woodson, facing felony indictments in the city of Waynesboro for destruction of property and firing into an occupied building, requested a court-appointed attorney at the hearing in Waynesboro General District Court.
Judge William D. Heatwole scheduled a May 20 preliminary hearing in the case.
Woodson is also facing felony indictments in Albemarle County on charges of shooting five occupied cars traveling on I-64, slightly injuring two people, and shooting an unoccupied Virginia Department of Transportation dump truck.
Woodson was scheduled for a bond hearing this morning in Albemarle General District Court, but it was rescheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday.
