The Commute
It’s a little tight out on I-64…
And you teetered on the edge of this
Calm street with its sidewalks, its traffic,
As though they are coming to get you.
John Ashbery—As We Know
Sleepy, but awake
In a hurry to spend time
Wishing for the beach.

I-64 westbound between Crozet and Charlottesville:
will be narrowed down to one lane for the next three weeks as VDOT-hired crews repair and replace the bridge surface over Stockton Creek, at mile marker 108. The left lane will be closed today with concrete barriers will restrict traffic to one 13-foot wide lane throughout the work zone. Watch for message boards. Portable cameras will shoot video to VDOT officials in Staunton to keep an eye on traffic conditions and update commuter information. Plans also call for increased coverage of the area by Safety Service Patrols, particularly during periods of heavy traffic.
Alternative routes: U.S. 250 at Exit 114 in Ivy to Crozet, reentering I-64 at Exit 107. For the latest from the road, dial 511.
