Transit Service to detour ‘trolley’ for game against Miami

The Charlottesville Transit Service will temporarily detour the free “trolley” on Saturday because of traffic associated with the University of Virginia vs. Miami football game.

The trolley will not travel south of Emmet Street on Jefferson Park Avenue through UVa’s Central Grounds, including McCormick and Alderman roads.
Instead, the westbound trolley will travel on Jefferson Park Avenue to Emmet Street, turn right onto University Avenue and return to its usual route at the Rotunda, eastbound.

The detour will run from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
The CTS also said its Route 5 will no longer serve the Colonnades or Barracks Road west of Georgetown Road.
The change will take effect Saturday.

Route 5 connects Barracks Road Shopping Center and Wal-Mart.
To assist riders in these areas with boarding the route, two new stops will be installed at the intersection of Georgetown and Barracks roads.

Anyone with questions about the Route 5 change can call 296-5832, ext. 3368.
