Va. regulators set hearing for Dominion plant

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ Virginia residents will have an opportunity in September to comment on a proposed Dominion Virginia Power facility in Buckingham County.

The State Corporation Commission has scheduled a public hearing September 30 on Dominion’s application to construct and operate the natural gas-fired electric generation facility.

The proposed 580-megawatt Bear Garden Generating Station would be built on a site across the James River from Dominion’s Bremo Power Station. The energy provider purchased the development rights for the project from Tenaska Virginia Partners in March.

Dominion also is seeking permission to build a 230-kilovolt transmission interconnection line that would extend from the proposed generating station to the existing Bremo switching substation in Fluvanna County.
