Charlottesville police have arrested two suspects they believe attempted to rob a University of Virginia student on Tuesday.

Jamar Lewis Chapman, 28, and Ramon Chas Jones, 21, face assault and battery and attempted robbery charges, according to police.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. as the student was approaching his car in the 200 block of Shamrock Road. Two men approached him and demanded his wallet, and one of them punched the victim in the face, police said. The victim fled and called police from his cell phone.

UVa police arrived soon thereafter. They found Chapman and Jones nearby, and the victim identified them.
