An Albemarle County woman is facing 10 possession of child pornography charges in the county’s circuit court.

A county grand jury handed down indictments charging 28-year-old Brittney M. Demmer with the counts. Demmer was arrested in June in connection with a police investigation that turned up pornography videos of prepubescent children.

She is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 29.

The grand jury also handed down several other indictments:

l Dustin James Lapradd, 23, of Moneta, was charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. Lapradd, a former University of Virginia student, originally was charged in May in connection with an Internet Crimes Against Children task force investigation.

Lapradd is scheduled for a trial Feb. 16.

l Santos Virgilio Lemus, 31, of Albemarle, was charged with receiving money from the earnings of a prostitute. Lemus was arrested in connection with a prostitution sting at a Commonwealth Drive apartment complex. Co-defendant Elizabeth Huertas Rondon was found guilty of misdemeanor prostitution in August and sentenced to a $250 fine and $91 in costs.

Lemus is scheduled for a trial Nov. 17.

l Alfonso Bernardo Ochoa, 23, of Albemarle, was charged with malicious wounding. Ochoa was arrested in connection with the July beating of 27-year-old Eduardo Mendez of Charlottesville. A malicious wounding charge against co-defendant Edgar Alvarez Santos in connection with the same incident was dismissed after a preliminary hearing in September.

Ochoa is scheduled for a trial Nov. 17.

Seeing as Judge Cheryl Higgins just let an admitted child molester and someone convicted of child porn possession OUT OF JAIL, these alleged perpetrators should feel confident that they’ll be out on the streets again soon.
