Charlottesville police have arrested a Richmond man in connection with the Tuesday robbery of a Wachovia Bank.

Police have now made arrests in both of the past week’s Charlottesville-area bank robberies.

Charlottesville police have charged Garland Thomas Carr, of Richmond, with robbing the Wachovia Bank at 10th Street Northeast and East High Street around noon on Tuesday, said Sgt. Lee Sidebottom.

Carr faces charges of robbery, entering a bank armed with the intent to commit larceny, and the use or display of a firearm in the commission of a felony, Sidebottom said.

The 27-year-old was arrested Saturday in Richmond, according to police records.

The man who robbed the bank on Tuesday passed a note to a teller demanding cash, then fled on foot.

On Friday morning, a man wearing a surgical-style mask walked into the BB&T bank on Pantops Mountain and demanded money from a teller before fleeing on foot. Albemarle County police have arrested a Gordonsville man and charged him in that robbery.
