Buckingham man fatally shoots self in front of Fluvanna authorities
A Buckingham County man shot himself to death Saturday night in front of several Fluvanna County sheriff’s deputies.
At around 8:30 p.m., someone at a residence in the 100 block of Creasy Town Lane in Fork Union called the Sheriff’s Office to report that a man was threatening to shoot and kill his ex-girlfriend.
Deputies arrived at the home shortly to find the man — who has not yet been identified by authorities — standing in the front yard with a pistol in his hand.
The deputies ordered the man to drop the weapon.
The man instead shot himself in the head, killing himself, authorities said.
Deputies found that the man had also shot his ex-girlfriend in the arm. The woman, who was also not identified, was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound.
It was not immediately known Sunday if the female victim is a resident of the home on Creasy Town Lane, authorities said.
Six other people were in the home at the time of the shooting, but were not hurt, authorities said.
The man’s identity and other details are expected to be released today, said Chief Deputy Eric Hess of the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office.
