A man who was the treasurer of the Mill Creek Homeowners Association for about 10 years has been charged with embezzlement.
Kevin O’Connor was arrested earlier this month, police said.
Neal Grandy, president of the homeowners association, said the organization hasn’t determined exactly how much money was taken over the years, but at least $10,000 is missing.

“It basically was all of the money that we had,” Grandy said.
Albemarle County police have released few details about the investigation.
“We caught onto it when the treasurer bounced a check to me,” Grandy said. He said that O’Connor has “promised restitution.”
A call to the O’Connor residence was not returned Saturday.

Grandy, who is also serving as interim treasurer, said O’Connor was removed from his position “almost as soon we found out.”
Grandy said that about a fourth of the subdivision’s residents already have paid their dues for 2010, which will help the homeowners association while its leaders try to recover the missing funds.
