Hearing set for man facing murder charge
Published: November 7, 2008
A Louisa man facing a capital murder charge in Albemarle County will return to court next year for a preliminary hearing.
Daniel Lee Dove, 28, appeared via video Friday in Albemarle Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Authorities previously identified Dove as a suspect in a Sept. 30 fatal shooting at Commonwealth Drive. The Commonwealth Attorney’s Office amended Dove’s first-degree murder charge to capital murder last week because the slaying of 17-year-old Emilio Morales happened during an attempted robbery.
Dove also was charged with malicious wounding, attempted robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He faces a preliminary hearing on those charges Dec. 18 in Albemarle General District Court.
He will return Dec. 1 for a motions hearing and again Jan. 5 for a preliminary hearing. David Baugh, a capital defender, is representing Dove on the capital murder charge.
Dove remains without bond in Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
