Masked assailant shoots 2 at Blue Ridge Commons

A masked assailant shot two people Thursday night at the Blue Ridge Commons apartment complex.

The victims suffered non-life threatening wounds and drove themselves to the emergency room at the University of Virginia Medical Center, said Charlottesville police Lt. W. Lewis.

The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m., police said.

The shooter was described as wearing all black clothing and a black mask.

Police did not say exactly where the shooting took place, but they were examining parked cars at the western edge of a parking lot on the western side of the apartment complex Thursday evening.

Further details were unavailable, and the investigation was continuing.
