Virginia State Police Lt. Joe Rader said this afternoon authorities are conducting a “criminal investigation” in the missing person case of Morgan Dana Harrington.
Rader updated media and answered questions about the whereabouts of Harrington, a 20-year-old Virginia Tech student who disappeared Saturday. She was in town for the Metallica concert.
Rader said authorities have been getting calls from around the country about Harrington. If anyone has information about her disappearance, call the State Police at 352-3435.

I like to add that I never thought badly of Morgan and like the rest of you, I would like to see her found alive and well. It’s really unfortunate that you hysterical nags have chosen to depict me as some sort of boogeyman to dump and unload on. I hope for your sake it made you feel better, albeit at my expense.
Online bullying is never cool, no matter who you’re doing it to.
To all you people who have personally attacked me and threatened me wishing me dead, thanks for proving my point. I guess there never is a good time to bring this issue up.
And by the way, I’m white.
For the family of Morgan,
My prayers and hopes are with you. You have a beautiful daughter. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. May God bless you and your family. Let’s hope God will get her home.
Costamesacalguy,
Reading your article you sound like a sick racist. Do yourself a favor jump off a cliff some place and do the world a favor. Get yourself out of you misery. You’re not worth responding to. Sicko
Kudos, MemphisCav. Residing in Charlottesville, and working with the UVA Police Department, I cannot express the amount of effort that is going into the investigation of the disappearance of Morgan Dana Harrington. Please keep your personal rants to yourself. This is clearly NOT the place for it.
You’re ABSOLUTELY right CostaMesaCalGuy, “this is not an appropriate time”! Your comment was, not only insensitive and callous, but ENTIRELY inappropriate. Did you stop and think that the grieving and worried sick family of this beautiful young lady might be reading this article? UNBELIEVABLE tackiness. While reading your unwarranted rant, I could only think of an idiot by the name of Kanye West. My heart goes out to ALL innocent victims of heinous crimes REGARDLESS of race or ethnicity..ESPECIALLY young women and children. Please take your racist whinning to another forum.
If they haven’t discussed it on their shows yet, they will soon. I guess right now they’re busy talking about Balloon Boy and the Sweat Lodge.
Did Nancy Grace and Larry King pick up this story already?
I don’t remember hearing anything about it on their shows.
Don’t get me wrong, I hope Morgan Dana Harrington is found safe and sound.
Maybe this is not an appropriate time to bring this up, but it seems everytime there is a young white woman or white female child that goes missing, the news channels immediately bury the other important stories and make this one the top story and it becomes the only topic discussed on Nancy Grace and Larry King. It seems that our tabloid media seem to forget that males, old people and people of color go missing too, yet, our tabloid media never makes any mention of them, unless their young white women or white female children.
There’s a name for this, it’s call “MWWS” or “missing white woman syndrome”.
