Mob attack leads to warrants for four
Charlottesville police have issued multiple warrants in connection with a group incident during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police issued a malicious wounding warrant for Khalesha Powell, 21, in connection with the wounding of Shamika Lewis, 27, and assault by mob warrants for Corneesha Powell, 22, and Sikara Powell, 18.
Trespassing and resisting lawful arrest warrants were also filed for Theodore Timberlake, 20, in connection with a subsequent incident involving a juvenile’s assault on a police officer.
According to authorities, police responded around 2:30 a.m. to a report of disorderly conduct and gunshots fired in the 800 block of Hardy Drive. Lewis said Corneesha Powell approached her and attempted to strike her, but the altercation was soon broken up.
It was then that Lewis heard shots in close proximity of three males — one of whom was Timberlake, according to the report. Lewis said one of the three males punched her, but she could not identify which one was responsible for hitting her or for firing the shots.
Police said around nine shell casings and one unfired round were found at the scene.
A witness said Khalesha Powell then tried to hit Lewis with a high-heeled shoe. After running away, Corneesha and Sikara Powell cornered Lewis and held her down as Khalesha Powell hit her with the shoe, according to police.
Lewis was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center for wound treatment. Police said no arrests have been made.
