Albemarle County police, state police and federal authorities are investigating an assault on Yonder Hill Farm Road that has sent at least one person to the hospital via helicopter.

The location is in the same general vincinity as the area where police searched for two suspects wanted in Thursday’s shootings along Interstate 64 and the Greenwood area. Officials at the scene could not confirm that the incidents are related.

At least one person was airlifted by helicopter early this morning after police and rescue crews were called to a Yonder Hill Farm residence, according to preliminary reports from the scene. Those reports indicated that someone at the location had suffered a traumatic injury, likely a shooting or stabbing.

Officials have not been able to comment on the incident, but police are investigating the call, which came at about 4:45 a.m. Albemarle County fire crews set up a landing zone for the medical helicopter at Jarman’s Gap Road and Lanetown Road, which is close to Yonder Hill Farm.
